Forrestania Resources has selected MEGA Resources to undertake the open-pit mining development at the Tycho Gold Project in Australia.

The contract, which covers stage one mining operations at Tycho, has an estimated value of around A$27m and is expected to run for roughly seven months.

MEGA will carry out drill and blast work, excavation, and the loading and haulage of ore and waste.

The company will also deliver ore to the run-of-mine stockpile, build and maintain haul roads, provide pit services and supply other mining support required for the first phase of operations.

MEGA was chosen after a competitive tender process, with Forrestania Resources stating that the company showed technical skills and operational capabilities in line with the goals for the Tycho project.

Forrestania indicated that MEGA’s mining plan, equipment set-up and project team are expected to support safety and efficiency throughout the mining programme.

The company described the contract award as an important milestone as it moves from project development into active mining and continues its progress towards first gold production.

The contract includes a staged payment structure, with deferred payment arrangements in place for the early months of the campaign and standard industry terms applying thereafter.

Forrestania executive chairman David Geraghty said: “We are pleased to partner with MEGA and look forward to working closely with their team to safely and efficiently deliver the Tycho project and unlock value for Forrestania shareholders.”

In February 2026, Forrestania signed a binding ore purchase agreement with Karora, a fully owned subsidiary of Westgold Resources, to sell ore from its Gibraltar Gold Project, marking the company’s transition to gold production.
