GlobalData, a leading data and analytics company, has revealed its global league tables for top 10 legal advisers in metals & mining sector by value and volume for 2021 in its report, ‘Global and Metals & Mining M&A Report Legal Adviser League Tables 2021’.
According to GlobalData’s mergers and acquisitions (M&A) report, a total of 1,502 M&A deals were announced in the sector during 2021, while deal value for the sector increased by 81.4% from $61.3bn in 2020 to $111.2bn in 2021.

Top advisers by value and volume
Cassels Brock & Blackwell has become as the top M&A legal adviser in the metals & mining sector for 2021 by both value and volume.
Cassels Brock & Blackwell advised on 24 deals valued at $13bn.
GlobalData lead analyst Aurojyoti Bose said: “Cassels Brock & Blackwell was the only firm to advise on more than 20 deals during 2021. It was also the only firm with the cumulative deal value crossing $13 billion.”
Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg took the second spot in terms of value, with 13 deals valued at $12.8bn. It was followed by Dorsey & Whitney, with 17 deals valued at $12.8bn, Fasken Martineau DuMoulin, with 12 deals worth $12.3bn and Blake Cassels & Graydon, with 19 deals worth $6.4bn.

By GlobalDataBlake Cassels & Graydon also secured the second position by volume, followed by Dorsey & Whitney and Stikeman Elliott, with 17 deals worth $5.2bn. Davies Ward Phillips & Vineberg took the fifth position in the volume table.

A dedicated team of analysts monitors all these sources to gather in-depth details for each deal, including adviser names.
