Turkey’s mining and metallurgy company Eti Bakir has selected global design firm Stantec to review and evaluate its mining facility in Siirt Province.
For the mine, which has operated as an open pit facility for several years, Stantec will assist in its transition to an underground mining operation.

The project will be led by Stantec’s Canadian mining business line, with assistance on the ground from its local team members in Istanbul.
Stantec operations director Dr Murat Sarioglu said: “Our experience in underground mine design and related technical services is globally recognised.
“It’s great to come together as a multidisciplinary team to support our clients locally with global expertise.”
Throughout this year, mining experts from Stantec will support Eti Baki as their new underground mine moves through the project execution phase to being fully operational.

By GlobalDataAdditionally, Stantec will regularly visit the mine site and carry out consultations to evaluate and advise on the transition process through.
Sarioglu further added: “Our team of mining experts will look at the overall operations process and performance, safety considerations, and opportunities to modify work plans. We will help Eti Bakir find the best path forward.”
Over the past 20 years, the company conducted several mining projects, including projects for Eti Bakir, Artmin, Eldorado, and First Quantum.
The latest project will help Stantec strengthen its Canadian and Turkish mining teams and increase its market share in Turkey.
The company will also continue to develop mining technical expertise in its Istanbul office.
Stantec has also delivered projects around the world, including the Cerro Corona Gold Mine in Peru and remedial work on the Holden Mine in Washington.
