WPG Resources executive chairman Bob Duffin said: “These gold bars represent a lot of hard work by all of our Challenger and Tarcoola site staff and contractors. We are very pleased with achieving these two milestones.

“Realisation of the synergies between Challenger and Tarcoola, which we identified early on is now commencing.”

The Tarcoola site is one of the latest mines in South Australia state.

WPG Resources acquired this mine in May 2014 and completed a feasibility study of the project in September 2015. A revised feasibility study was undertaken in 2016, which analysed the viability of processing ore through the Challenger CIP treatment plant.

"These gold bars represent a lot of hard work by all of our Challenger and Tarcoola site staff and contractors."

The study indicated significant economic outcomes for the company.

WPG Resources estimates that treatment through the Challenger CIP plant will provide 95% gold recovery results.

Tarcoola mine is estimated to host a total resource of 973,000t averaging 3.12g/t Au, containing 97,000oz Au in the two main deposits of Perseverance and Last Resource.

The company expects that the development of this mine and the Challenger mill will transform WPG Resources into a successful mid-tier gold producer.
