Claude Resource has temporarily suspended work at its Seabee Gold Mine in northern part of Saskatchewan, Canada, due to a forest fire.

The company said that that it was suspending operation at the mine to avoid risk of high winds, which could bring heavy smoke and ash from a nearby forest fire.

Claude Resource president and CEO Brian Skanderbeg said: "Our number one priority is the safety and wellbeing of our employees.

"As a precautionary measure, we have moved non-essential personnel and have temporarily suspended underground mining operations.

"The company will continue to monitor the situation and once the risk has been mitigated, we will resume operations."

However, production from the mill will continue as the facility has not been affected by the fire.

The company currently has a stockpile of around 10,000t on surface, which could meet 12 days of production.

It does not expect the situation to have an impact on its long-term production, and it will still be able to meet production guidance for the year.

The Seabee Gold Operation includes the mine and the Santoy Mine Complex, which is located 14km from the Central Milling Facility.

Claude Resource started production narrow vein, underground operation in December 1991.

During 2014, Claude milled 279,597t of ore, grading 7.32g per tonne and producing 62,984oz of gold.
