Alpha Natural Resources has announced plans to layoff another 230 miners in West Virginia due to tough market conditions that have minimised demand for coal.
The layoffs are set to take place at four mines and one Brooks Run Mining-operated processing plant in Braxton and Webster counties, West Virginia.

Four West Virginia metallurgical mines including Jackson Bridge No. 1, Mine No. 4, Sumter Mine and Seven Pines Surface Mine are planned to be idled by mid-April, Platts reported.
Alpha sent worker adjustment and retraining notification (WARN) act notices to its Brooks Run Mining Company subsidiary.
In January, Alpha announced 886 job cuts at its mines in southern West Virginia due to an ongoing market slump.
The announcement came as the company planned to idle eight underground mines and two processing plants in the region.
