Here are the five largest coal mines by production in Russia, according to GlobalData’s mining database.

1. Donetskiy Project

The Donetskiy Project is located in Rostov Oblast. It produced an estimated 26.5 Million Tonnes of coal in 2021.

2. Pechorskiy Project

The Pechorskiy Project is located in Komi Republic,. The mine produced an estimated 26.5 Million Tonnes of coal in 2021.

3. The Borodinsky Strip Mine

The The Borodinsky Strip Mine is located in Krasnoyarsk Krai. It is owned by Siberian Coal Energy and produced an estimated 19.5 Million Tonnes of coal in 2021.

4. Sobolevskoe Mine

The Sobolevskoe Mine, owned by SI Resources, is a surface mine located in Sakhalin Oblast. The mine produced an estimated 16.4 Million Tonnes of coal in 2021.

5. South Yakutiya Project

The South Yakutiya Project is located in Sakha (Yakutia) Republic. It produced an estimated 15.5 Million Tonnes of coal in 2021.
