Tombstone Exploration has received approval from the Arizona State Land Department for four new state permits, which cover an 8km² area at the eastern edge of the Tombstone Mining District.

According to the reports, the leases – named ‘Zebra property’ – have total proven and probable reserves of 100,632t, averaging 0.0919oz/t gold, and the mineralisation is thought to be epithermal in origin.

Tombstone Exploration will evaluate the existing data, and design an exploration programme to confirm the historic information and search for both high-grade gold mineralization, along with large tonnage, low-grade gold mineralisation.

Tombstone Exploration president Alan Brown said the firm has made significant progress in expanding its acreage and will now focus on exploration.
