Canada-based mineral exploration company Beaufield Resources has begun drilling work at its 100%-owned iron property in Schefferville, in the Canadian state of Quebec.

The company has contracted two drills from Chibougamau Diamond Drilling to drill 6,000m over the next three months.

The drilling programme will evaluate the direct shipping ore (DSO) and the Taconite potential of the early stage iron exploration property.

A technical report by SRK Consulting Canada states that the Schefferville project’s geology is favourable for both low-grade, high volume taconite and high-grade, low volume DSO iron deposit types.

The report also shows the presence of three DSO occurrences including Squaw Woolett, Lac Anabel and Lac Partington No 2.

Beaufield will begin drilling at the Squaw Woolett extension site, which is located 8km from Schefferville.
