Grupo Mexico has said its copper smelter at La Caridad mine has resumed normal operations after a labour disruption halted output.

A spokesman for the company said the force majeure declared in September could be lifted in coming weeks.

The smelter has been operating below capacity since 2 September, when the national miners union began to block the transport of workers to the La Caridad refinery complex.

The company expects that the labour disruption will not have a significant impact on output, reports Reuters.
