Hochschild Mining has extended the resource lifespan of the San Jose mine in Chile by almost 50%.

The company said a nine-month-long drilling campaign has extended the mine’s lifespan from 8.4 years to 12.5 years.

The campaign also increased San Jose’s total resources by 63 million silver equivalent ounces from 110 million ounces at the end of last year.

Exploration drilling is continuing to expand resources in other areas of the property, the company said.
