Massey Energy has been fined by US federal regulators for a violation that led to the death of a West Virginia miner in May this year at the Ruby Energy underground mine in Mingo County, US.

The miner died after he was caught between a block of coal and heavy equipment at the mine, which the MSHA said is a result of a violation in the mine’s roof control plan, reports Associated Press.

Massey‘s Upper Big Branch mine explosion on 5 April this year killed 29 men.
