First Quantum Minerals will install a security surveillance system to protect sensitive areas at the Kanshansi copper mine, in north-western Zambia.

The company has appointed C3 Shared Services to design and install charge-coupled device cameras, high-speed domes and intelligent video analytics to protect the perimeter and entrances, to help monitor all processes within the processing plant.

The intelligent video analytics help to detect and alert control room operators to any intrusions on the perimeter fence and within the mine area, while the high-speed domes allow for the finer details within the plant to be monitored, reports Mining Weekly.
