Excellon Resources has suspended production at its Platosa mine in Mexico after a large water-bearing fissure was found last week.

The company said no employees were injured during the inflow and all mobile and other valuable equipment was brought to surface.

Mining crews have begun building concrete walls to aid in water containment, Excellon said.

All non-essential activities have been curtailed at the Platosa and Miguel Auza sites until the company has an estimate of the likely duration of the temporary suspension.
