Canada’s Imperial Metals has suspended operations at its Huckleberry mine in northern British Columbia due to wildfires in the area.

The mine operations were temporarily suspended from 16 August.

In a statement, Imperial said the mine workforce has been reduced to a maintenance crew.

The wildfires, which are about 50km from the plant site, have put the access road and power line to the mine at risk.

Imperial Metals owns a 50% stake in the Huckleberry open pit copper and molybdenum mine.
