The Metallurgical Corporation of China (McC) said operations at its copper and zinc mines in Pakistan have not been affected by recent flooding.

MMC vice-president Huang Dan said the company’s two mines are located in the Balochistan area, reports Reuters.

However, the mines face uncertain transport conditions as the flood spreads, added Dan.

The company’s zinc mine produced about 13,000t of zinc concentrate in the first half of the year and has a designed capacity of about 70,000t a year.

MCC’s copper mine produces 18,000t of copper, 2t of gold and 3t of silver a year.

Flooding has disrupted the lives of around a tenth of Pakistan’s 170 million people.
