Coeur d’Alene Mines has started production at its Kensington Gold Mine in Alaska.

The company expects to produce 50,000oz of gold during the rest of 2010 and will average approximately 125,000oz of gold annually over the mine’s initial 12.5-year life.

Coeur d’Alene Mines CEO Dennis Wheeler said the mine represents Coeur’s third new precious metals mine to start production in the past three years and will provide continued, meaningful growth to the company’s production and cash flow.

About 200 workers will be employed during the mine operations, Coeur said.
