Employment in the US mining industry is improving with new jobs being created every month, according to a US Department of Labor report.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics monthly report released last week shows that mining employment in March increased by 8,000.
The report also shows that monthly job gains in mining have averaged 6,000 over the past five months.
Though the demand for coal has not recovered significantly in the US, mines are benefiting from recovering demand from Asian steelmakers for coal and iron ore.
