Barrick Gold Corporation has suspended operations at its Bulyanhulu mine in Tanzania following a rock fall which killed three workers.

The area of the rock fall will be closed until the incident has been investigated, the company said.

The Bulyanhulu mine in is one of four involved in a spinoff of Barrick’s African operations into a new publicly traded company.

In 2009, the Bulyanhulu mine won a health and safety award by authorities.
