Kimber Resources said it is going to start drilling at the Pericones silver project in Southern Mexico in March this year.

The initial core drilling programme will be in the range of 2,500m to 3,000m and will focus on the Plaza de Gallos area of Pericones, where previous surface and underground sampling returned significant silver values.

Five samples collected from the surface expression of the structure returned values of 171g/t to 242g/t silver in chip samples over widths of 1.5m.

The Plaza de Gallos structure at Pericones ranges from 1.3m to 3m in width, and silver-gold mineralisation occurs throughout the entire length of the 100m-long adit with two levels.

High-grade silver is associated with elevated levels of copper, lead and zinc.

The Pericones project constitutes two contiguous concessions totalling 11,890ha located approximately 160km south-west of Mexico City.

The area has been the subject of mineral exploration with numerous historic small-scale mines and workings on the Pericones property.
