Expanding gold producer Medusa Mining has discovered copper mineralisation in two separate geological settings at its Lingig prospect in the Philippines.

Medusa drilled 6,400m in 17 angled holes since issuing its last update in March this year, intersecting intervals of 38m at 0.20% copper, 44.5m at 0.34%, 209.1m at 0.25% and 159.7m at 0.40%.

A thrust-hosted mineralisation was found in the Northern Discovery Area and a porphyry related mineralisation was located beneath the thrust where consistent copper mineralisation has been found.

Almost all holes contained visible copper mineralisation, outlining a huge copper-anomalous zone, while mineralisation vectors are being delineated, expected to result in ‘a fertile porphyry source’.

Medusa managing director Geoff Davis said the company continues to intersect extensive mineralisation in increasingly favourable structural and magmatic settings.

“The discovery of significant new intersections in a high energy/high fluid flow dioritic hydrothermal breccia environment is interpreted to be vectoring closer to the porphyry mineralisation source,” Davis said.

“Drilling will continue using three rigs to extend the mineralisation, to refine the geological models and to unravel the mineralisation controls.”
