China has suffered yet another mining disaster, this time resulting in the death of 26 men who plunged to their death when elevator breaks failed.

Xinhau news agency in China said 19 men died instantly in the accident and the others later, and five men are still being treated but are in a safe and stable condition.

The miners were working in a tin mine in China’s Hunan Province.

Investigators are looking into the cause of the accident.

Last year more than 3,000 people died in China’s coal mines.
