Junior resource firm Habanero Resources has acquired land within the Stewart mining region in the Canadian province of British Columbia.

The 5,400ha site is in the vicinity of the Montrose gold discovery announced by Decade Resources on its Red Cliff site.

On 3 September, Decade announced drilling results of 7.5 grams per tonne of gold spread over 32.5m, 5.78 gram per tonne across 28.4m and 7.3 gram of gold spread across 28.3m.

Habanero is also in the process of attempting to acquire additional acreage in the area.

Habanero president Jason Gigliotti said the purchase is in an area that has recently attracted market attention.

“Not only do we have this new acquisition, but a work programme is also currently underway on our 100%-owned Yukon Gold Prospect,” Gigliotti said.

Habanero also has acreage in the Alberta oil sands and Yukon, and has applications to become a significant land holder within prospective lithium tenements in Alberta.
