Jameson Resources is in the final stages of recommissioning the Basin coal mine located in British Columbia, Canada.

Test work has found that the mine could generate export-quality thermal coal, according to steelguru.com.

Jameson is assessing the marketability of the Basin coal mine as a potential PCI blend, the news service said.

From bulk sample tests carried out at the site, typical coal quality was found to be 10.8% moisture, 12% ash and 0.56% sulphur.

A wash plant will be established to generate a clean coal product at 12% ash using ROM material at nearly 36% ash, steelguru.com said.

Jameson is waiting for authorisation to conduct a diamond drilling and trenching programme to the north of the open pit.
