A fire which broke out in a gold mine in central China’s Henan province has trapped 13 miners including seven from a rescue team, according to Chinese news sources.

Fire fighters are still believed to be working to control the blaze, according to the city’s coal mine industry bureau, writes Xinhua.

Bureau director Lei Jianguo said a sudden cave-in caused an electric cable to catch fire when the miners were working inside.

The bureau sent 25 coal mine rescue workers to the scene.

Some miners are believed to have escaped the blaze.
