Canadian explorer Bowmore Mining has acquired an additional 12 claims surrounding the Santa-Elvira property on the Sierra Madre gold trend in northern Mexico.

The claims, known as Paraje Azul, are spread over 2,847ha and contain areas prospective for copper-gold mineralisation.

The acquisition is part of Bowmore’s major expansion plans and brings the total land holding of the company in the area to 3,410ha.

Bowmore said assessment of the claims’ potential will begin after implementing the exploration programme on Santa-Elvira, which is scheduled to begin in late August.
