Anglo American has sold its remaining 17% stake in South African aluminium company Hulamin for about $55m.

The move is in line with Anglo’s strategy to focus on its core mining operations, Anglo said.

Anglo sold the remaining 35.8 million shares at R12 a share to South African institutions, completing the company’s ongoing exit from Hulamin.

On 22 July, Anglo sold 61 million shares to Coronation Asset Management for about $93m.
