Australian miner Golden Rim has acquired three licences that cover the Farada project in southern Mali.

The licences are spread across an area of 99km2 of gold-rich Birimian volcano-sedimentary rocks.

Canadian-listed African Gold Group, which owns an adjoining licence, recently announced an inferred resource of 5.5 million tonnes at 3.02 g/t gold for 540,933oz, after drilling about 35km into the rocks beneath a major arsenic soil anomaly.

The soil anomaly extends up to 8km into the Farada project, Golden Rim said.

The company plans to start Auger drilling followed by reverse circulation in October 2009.
