Coal companies have offered an 8.5% increase for miners, artisans and officials alongside a 9.5% increase for lower category workers for the first year of the wage agreement, miningweekly.com reports.
This is a 0.5% increase on previous offers.
NUM general secretary Frans Baleni said the members would reject the offer.
“Our members would have to look into these and tell us what they are thinking and they are surely going to reject them outright,” Baleni said.
The next round of negotiations is scheduled for 20 July.
