Equipment from BHP Billiton’s Douglas colliery in Mpumalanga is set to be auctioned in one of the biggest coal mine asset sales ever to be held in South Africa.
The equipment was put up for sale after the mine closed in December 2008 because of depleted reserves.
The auction will be carried out by an independent auctioneering company, Park Village Auctions, Mining Weekly reports.
The colliery’s underground and open cast coal mine assets include shuttle cars, load haul dump vehicles and mine-protected vehicles as well as compressors and conveyors.
Buyers should submit their offers to the auctioneers by 14 August.
