Australian gold company Cortona Resources will add a second rig to expand drilling at its wholly-owned Majors Creek Gold Project in Canberra, New South Wales.

The expansion plans result from positive assay findings during the recent RC drilling at Plums Lode and Hangingwall Lode, and the discovery of high-grade gold mineralisation south-west of Dargues main shaft.

The results show a broad, high-grade intercept of 20m at 6.0g/t gold, which extends the strike of Plums Lode mineralisation by approximately 25m to the west.

The Dargues Reef resource currently has 1.44Mt at 6.2g/t for 286,000oz of gold.
