MMX Mineração e Metálicos (MMX) has awarded a $150m contract to Australian firm CNEC WorleyParsons to provide professional services for the expansion of the Serra Azul iron ore mining unit in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

The Serra Azul expansion project comprises a new iron ore processing plant with a 10km conveyor belt that will connect to the proposed railroad terminal.

Under the contract, CNEC WorleyParsons will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services to the project.

WorleyParsons acquired engineering and project management operation firm CNEC Engenharia last year.
