Midway Gold has received regulatory approval for an expanded drilling permit at its Pan Project in Nevada, US.

The expanded permit will enable the firm to increase the drill roads and drill pad areas and will include a new access route to the project that protects areas of potential Sage Grouse habitat.

Additional exploration drilling around the margins of the South Pan deposit will be allowed where recent step-out drilling encountered 30m of 3.15 grams per ton (gpt) of gold.

Midway will also continue expedited condemnation drilling around proposed mine facilities and is in the process of completing the feasibility study and mine plan for the project.

The mine plan will be submitted to the BLM for evaluation and development of an environmental impact statement.
