Gold Fields Ghana (GFGL) has awarded an engineering, procurement, construction and management (EPCM) contract to MDM Engineering for its Tarkwa project in Ghana.

Under the contract, MDM will provide EPCM services for the CIL crushing plant expansion project.

In 2010, MDM completed a conceptual study for the CIL crushing plant, in which it examined the existing test work, plant operations and plant equipment.

Based on the detailed engineering and design submitted in March, MDM will move further towards expanding the project.

Tarkwa project is located in south-western Ghana, and consists of multiple open pits, two heap leach facilities and a CIL plant.
