AECOM Technology Corporation has received a $20m service contract for the $1.4bn Ravensworth North mine expansion project in New South Wales, Australia.
Under the terms of the contract, the company will provide engineering, procurement and construction management services for the $200m infrastructure component of the coal mine.
Aecom will work in collaboration with Xstrata Coal and Downer EDI to complete the project, which will see the mine production increase from 4Mtpa to 12Mtpa.
Xstrata Coal is expected to begin export of thermal and semi-soft coking coal next year.
The expansion will feature an open-cut pit, an augmented raw-coal system, expanded coal processing plant and product coal system, expanded mine industrial area and associated new civil infrastructure.
