Murchison Metals has received approval from the Environmental Protection Authority of Western Australia (EPA) for the Jack Hills expansion project (JHEP) at the Jack Hills iron ore mine in Western Australia.

The expansion will increase the Jack Hills mine’s production from 1.8Mtpa to over 20Mtpa of high quality iron ore concentrates.

EPA granted the approval after the Commonwealth Department of Sustainability, Environment, Water, Population and Communities stated that the JHEP is “not a controlled action” under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act and that further assessment is not needed.

Murchison holds a 50% interest in Crosslands Resources, the owner and developer of the Jack Hills project.
