Anvil Mining is planning to start commercial production of copper at its newly constructed plant at the Kinsevere copper mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in the current quarter.

The new plant is expected to triple Anvil Mining’s annual copper production to about 60,000t of copper cathode, reports Reuters.

The firm has stopped production from its old facility at the site in order to focus on the commissioning and ramp-up of the new plant.

Anvil Mining CEO Darryll Castle said that with ramp-up and commissioning, the firm expects to achieve 5,000t a month of production during the fourth quarter of 2011.
