Aquila Resources has received environmental approval for the mine and rail facilities at the West Pilbara iron ore project in Western Australia.
The Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) has granted approval to develop eight iron ore deposits and a 285km heavy-haulage railway from the mining area to the proposed new port at Anketell Point.
Under the first stage of the project, the firm will carry out a 30Mtpa mining operation on reserves located south of Pannawonica at the project.
Aquila Resources is currently carrying out substantial work towards securing a debt facility to help fund the development costs of the project.
