Russian mining firm Mechel has formed a joint venture with India-based Somani Group to meet the growing demand of coal.
The JV, Mechel Somani Carbon, will receive coal from Mechel’s mines in Russia and other countries and process it in India, reports the Press Trust of India.

The JV will import about six to eight shipments of coal from Mechel’s mines, which is equal to about 250,000 tonnes per year.
