Legend International Holdings has received a mining lease from the Queensland Government, Australia, for its Paradise North phosphate project.

The mining lease ML90191 is the second mining lease for the project, following the D-Tree North mining lease ML90190 last year, and is the first of two to be granted for the Paradise North phosphate fertiliser project.

The recent production feasibility study on the project reported a pre-tax net present value of A$4.8bn and has estimated the production of 1.2Mtpa of di-ammonium phosphate and mono-ammonium phosphate.

Queensland Premier Anna Bligh said the government has taken steps to ensure the development of resources and mining industry in the area.
