The Queensland Resources Council (QRC) has launched a new body called the Queensland Exploration Council (QEC) to place Queensland Australia as a minerals and energy exploration leader by 2020.
QEC plans to elevate the importance of exploration by highlighting growth and sustainability of the state’s resources sector and the huge potential spin-off benefits in Brisbane as a service centre.
Queensland’s rating as a secure place to invest has dropped with the government’s policies on Wild Rivers declarations, proposed strategic cropping land legislation and cancellation of mining leases, according to Roche.
QRC CEO Michael Roche said the QEC would do that by influencing perceptions of the importance of exploration and by promoting Queensland’s minerals and energy prospects to investors and businesses providing support services.
