Clean TeQ Holdings of Australia has developed a patent-pending process for the extraction and recovery of uranium from high saline acidic solutions.
The new process, U-HiSAL, which is an application of Clean TeQ’s suite of ion exchange technologies, has showed good results in the laboratory test work for extraction and recovery of uranium from saline and hyper saline leach solutions.
Uranium loading in excess of 30g U/L resin from a 100ppm uranium solution containing 20g/L chloride was achieved using Clean TeQ’s R-603B resin.
Clean TeQ has been working with UraniumSA on the application of the new process for their Mullaquana uranium project, located on the Eyre Peninsula in South Australia.
The proposed Mulluquana in-situ leach (ISL) project has formation waters in excess of 30,000ppm salinity, reducing the performance of conventional resin processes.
