Construction and mining equipment manufacturer Komatsu has invested $50m to build a ‘super site’ at Wacol, Australia, as part of its nationwide expansion programme.

Located south-west of Brisbane, the centre will assemble up to 70 ultra-class dump trucks a year, beginning January 2011, reports supplychainreview.

Stage 1 will involve the construction of more than 14,000m2 of workshop and assembly facilities on the 56,000m2 site.

The site is due to commence operation in January 2012, with final fit-out to take place towards the end of 2011.
