Goldstrike Resources has started a drilling campaign on its Plateau property in British Columbia, Canada, after it completed a 10,000 line kilometre airborne magnetic survey and a district-scale geochemical programme.
The company completed the survey and geochemical programmes with assistance from Newmont Mining’s exploration team and equipment as well as technologies.
Spanning 570km², the project hosts a district-scale gold system located 130km south-east of Mayo, Yukon, and extends for 50km.
Under the drilling programme, Goldstrike has indicated the primary targets as Goldstack and Bonanza Zones.
The company is planning to drill additional targets, building on positive results on the primary targets.
In addition, it intends to carry out testing newly discovered mineralised zones such as Big Bang, Bullion, Gold Dome, Goldbank and Goldrush at Plateau.
Through the drilling programme at the Goldstack Zone, Goldstrike aims to expand known mineralisation with pierce points at 25m spacing along strike.
To be drilled for the first time, the Bonanza Zone comprises a 20m-wide zone of auriferous quartz veins remains open, according to results from surface mapping and sampling.
The Plateau property also hosts a new and undeveloped district-scale gold-mineralised system, the Yellow Giant Trend.
In March, Goldstrike entered a partnership with Newmont Mining’s Canadian subsidiary to explore the Plateau property.
