Downer EDI secures mining services contract in Australia

Downer EDI has secured a long-term rolling contract to provide mining services at the Meandu Mine in South East Queensland, Australia, from TEC Coal.

Downer EDI has secured a long-term rolling contract to provide mining services at the Meandu Mine in South East Queensland, Australia, from TEC Coal.

The contract is valued at $600-$800 million, with an initial term of five and a half years and will commence in January 2013.

Services to be provided under the contract consist of mine management, planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation and the maintenance of mobile and fixed plants.

TEC Coal will provide the majority of the required equipment.

Downer recently secured an electrical and instrumentation contract from BHP for its iron ore projects in Western Australia valued at $175m.
