Rescue workers are continuing search operations for two miners trapped underground by a cave-in that killed two workers in southern Ecuador.

Search crews have been trying to clear debris to reach the miners, who are believed to be trapped 150m underground.

Non-renewable resources minister Carlos Parejato said the trapped miners are expected to be alive as the landslide has not affected the entire tunnel.

Primary investigation reveal a water leak that eroded structural supports led to the collapse at the Casa Negra gold, silver and copper mine on 15 October.
