Rio Tinto has reported record iron ore production in the quarter ended in September.
The company’s iron ore production increased from 43.61 million tons in the quarter ending June to 47.60 million tons in the September quarter.
Iron production grew 10% in the first three quarters of 2010 compared with the same period the previous year.
The company’s alumina production increased from 2.24 million tons to 2.34 million tons during the same period.
Coking coal recorded a marginal increase from 2.39 million tons to 2.43 million tons.
