Hochschild Mining has made a high-grade gold and silver discovery at its San Jose project in southern Argentina.

The company said it has discovered nine high-grade gold/silver veins as well as significant extensions to two existing veins which together total more than 5km in strike length at its San Jose operation.

Hochschild launched an intensive drilling programme totaling 47,431m in 233 diamond core holes in early 2010.

Hochschild Mining chief executive Ignacio Bustamante said the results, which are expected to materially increase mine life, demonstrate the significant geological potential of the district.
