Stornoway Diamond has awarded a contract to SNC-Lavalin for the preparation of a feasibility study of the Renard Diamond project in Quebec, Canada.
The contract will cover principal mine design and engineering work, while AMEC Americas will provide diamond mining and processing expertise under a subcontract.
The feasibility study will examine best-case mine optimisation scenarios, including the expansion of processing capacity from 5,000t to 7,000t a day.
The scope of the contract includes open pit and underground mine design, production scheduling, diamond process plant design, and metallurgical testing and site infrastructure design.
The feasibility study is expected to be completed by the third quarter of 2011.
