AngloGold Ashanti has suspended operations at its Kopanang mine in South Africa after a miner died at the site.

The company said a mine worker sustained injuries during a ground fall accident at the Kopanang mine and later succumbed to his injuries.

Mine operations were suspended immediately following the accident.

A company spokesperson said it is too early to know how much output would be lost due to the closure and when the mine would re-open, reports Reuters.

AngloGold suspended mine operations last week after a fatality at its Tau Tona mine, which has now resumed operations.
